See How Object Access Is Granted in Object Manager – Winter’25 Release

Object Access is undoubtedly one of the most valuable additions in the Winter ’25 release. Salesforce administrators are well aware of the challenges involved in reviewing individual profiles and numerous permission sets to comprehend object access. The process of examining each profile or permission set to determine specific object access is incredibly time-consuming and frustrating.

Where we can find Object Access:

To access the Object Access feature, go to Setup, navigate to Object Manager, and select an object. In the sidebar, click on Object Access.

Object Access

Purpose of Object Access:

Imagine you’re a Salesforce administrator responsible for managing access to an Account object, for a team of 20 users across 5 different departments.

Prior to the Winter 25 release, you would have to:

  1. Manually review each of the 20 users’ profiles and permission sets to determine their current access levels.
  2. Identify the specific permissions required for each department, such as “Read,” “Create,” “Edit,” or “Delete.”

This is Quite time consuming process.

With the Winter’ 25 release, this process is significantly simplified. You can now:

Simply go to the Account object and see the option called “Object access”. It will give you the Comprehensive view of the permission sets, permission set groups, and profiles that grant access to an object, and the level of access granted. It’s read-only Object Access Summary in Object Manager to quickly check object permissions when troubleshooting, completing reviews, or determining how to grant user access.

In the “Object Access” section, you will find three Tabs: 1. Permission sets, 2. Permission Set Groups and 3. Profiles. Each tab lists the relevant profiles, permission sets, or permissions set groups and indicates the CRUD(Create, read, update, delete) access granted to the Object.

For example, in the screenshot, the “Branch Officer General Object Perms” Permission set has only “Read” access on the Account Object, while “C360 High Scale Flow Integration User” Permission set has full access(Read, Create, Edit, Delete …).

Similarly, the Profile tab displays different profiles and their access levels for the Account object.

This way, you can easily review the varying levels of access granted to an Object across different Profiles, Permissions sets and Permission set groups.

(Hint: Salesforce might make this summary editable so you can edit object permissions at Object level itself)
